The objective of this research project was to determine the parentage of Hannah Reeve, who married Thomas Meadows in 1758 at Barnwood, Gloucester, England. Except for a few parishes in the city of Gloucester, the christening records for all parishes within five miles of Barnwood have been extracted and are found in the International Genealogical Index (IGI) [document #1-2]. Those not extracted are the parishes of Holy Trinity and St. Aldate. No Reeve christenings were found at Holy Trinity 1730-1743; christenings 1730-1743 for St. Aldate are not available at the Family History Library. Although the christenings of all other nearby parishes have been extracted, we searched christenings from 1730-1745 in the following parishes but did not find Hannah [document #4]: Barnwood Brockworth Cranham Down Hatherley Gloucester, Cathedral (St. Peter's Abbey) Gloucester, St. Peter Gloucester, St. Catherine Gloucester, St. John the Baptist Gloucester, St. Mary de Crypt Gloucester, St. Mary de Lode Gloucester, St. Michael Gloucester, St. Nicholas

The only christening for a Hannah Reeve within a five mile radius (searched through the International Genealogical Index, parish registers, or both) is the following [document #5]: 18 February 1736/1737 Churchdown, Gloucester, England: Hannah Reeve daughter of George and Jane We found no Hannah/Ann Reeve buried 1736B1755 at Churchdown. Although a christening this early would mean Hannah was about 44 years old when her youngest child was born, and although she named no children George or Jane (she did have a Jenny), this is the only christening found for Hannah, and Churchdown is just east of Barnwood. George Reeve married Jane Teale a few miles south of Churchdown [document #7-8]: 21 September 1724 Cranham, Gloucester: George Reeve and Jane Teale both of the parish of Churchdown We found no Gloucestershire wills which appear to relate to the ancestral Hannah [document #9a-b]. Her christening and parental information has been tentatively added to the family group information, as this is the best possible christening found in the area.
